• engineer visits
If, during this consultation, you agree that an engineer visit is necessary, oztech apply a fixed fee of just £60 for the first hour, with each additional hour on-site being billed at only £40 (calculated in 30 minute increments )
For guidance, the average duration of a residential engineering visit over the last 12 months has been 80 minutes.
No VAT is payable, and there are no separate call-out fees or mileage charges within 20 miles of Oswestry, which encompasses the areas around; Shrewsbury, Telford, Wrexham, Ellesmere, Whitchurch and Welshpool.

A physical engineering visit may not always be required to diagnose and address broadband issues (see the Bonus content in the section on improving speed ). So long as you have Internet access, it may be possible for you to download a programme called 'TeamViewer'.
This free Application will allow David to access your computer, and the devices connected to your wi-fi network, as if he were sitting at your keyboard!
Because there is no travelling involved, oztech charge just £40 for the first hour, with each additional 30 minutes billed at only £20.
• BONUS: Some cost comparisons. . .Charges for an engineer visit arranged through your broadband provider will depend on the outcome.
If the fault is found to be within your property (including, for example, your wiring, equipment, set-up or applications ), broadband providers like BT, TalkTalk, and EE will all typically charge for an engineer's visit.
As an example (correct as of October 2025 ); Openreach (who manage BT's network infrastructure ) charge a minimum of £155 (+VAT) for a home visit, consisting of a £90 (+VAT) call-out charge, plus £65 (+VAT) for every addition hour, or part thereof. . . with a minimum of 1 hour.
Independent engineers generally cost in the region of £95 (+VAT) for the first hour and £45 (+VAT) for each subsequent hour. . . in addition to which there may be separate call-out fees & mileage charges.
In all cases, fees exclude any necessary equipment or materials supplied.
